Kim Conant
IOP Support Specialist
Kim’s love for helping others came at an early age when she would often notice the ones who were left out, hurt, or alone.
Her caregiving nature has likely spawned from being the oldest of six children in her family of origin and has continued as a mother, full-time caregiver for her grandmother, and many others.
Kim has loved sports of all kinds, but especially loves to play basketball and to waterski.
This love meant a lot of years on the court and subsequently many years of coaching.
Her four children provided her many opportunities to coach soccer, basketball, and flag football.
Being their cheerleader was her favorite role.
She continues to be involved with sports as she helps the recreation department with supervising referees and games.
Music is the language of Kim’s soul.
Though not the most accomplished pianist by far, the piano is a place of expression, healing, and stress relief for her.
Her love of music is eclectic and each genre speaks to her emotions in various ways.
Graduating from Rick’s College in Sociology, then BYU in Social Work was a dream that allowed her to help people in a whole new way.
She conducted child abuse investigations for DCFS in the State of Utah for eight years.
In this capacity, she saw people at their lowest places, where she found a way to help direct them to safety, healing, and hope.
Having adopted three children has given Kim a unique perspective into the complexities of family ties—birth families, families of origin, mixed families of biological, foster, and adoptive children, etc.
She and her husband were foster parents for a time for a 17-year-old boy as well.
These children with their unique backgrounds, genetic makeup, and life experiences have been the best tutoring ground for helping others.
The love of a mother knows no bounds!
Traveling is an especially fun hobby for Kim and her husband as their empty nest now allows it more frequently.
Though trips to Israel and other countries have been fun, her favorites involve a beach and life under the sea.
She loves scuba diving and snorkeling.
Sunsets or sunrises on the beach feel like the sweetest gifts from God, and they’re best experienced with toes in the sand!
Kim has worked in various capacities throughout her adult life but is excited about finding new opportunities to put her social work skills to use in helping others grow and heal.
Lets face it, who likes to talk about their crap with other people?
If you’re like most clients, you’re used to being judged despite hearing so many people talk about non judgment and when you do open up, it seems like the more you share, the less likely you are to get compassion.
We’ve worked our butts off to create a clinic where the unfiltered, real you, can show up and heal, so dammit give therapy a chance!
We love the unfiltered real you, let’s heal together. – Utah Family Therapy Team
