Understand Addiction, What Is It?

Definition of Addiction – A persistent, compulsive dependence on a behavior or substance.

Addiction has been extended to include mood-altering behaviors or activities.

For the purpose of this article, we are going to speak of two types: Process Addiction and Substance Addiction.

Process Addiction

Process Addiction: is the cause of action making a malicious and deliberate misuse or perversion of regularly issued.

It may also be referred to as taking in certain activities or behaviors, such as gambling, the Internet, sex, and eating. It is any non-chemical behavior that stimulates a person and becomes an obligation, or interferes with an individual’s life.

Process addictions (gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity)

Process addictions are just as dangerous as drugs, etc.

Deeper Look at Process Addictions

Gambling addiction is a mental health problem that is understood to be one of many kinds of impulse-control problems.

Many activities that people labeled with this disorder might engage in are as capricious as the games available.

Betting on sports, buying lottery tickets, playing poker, slot machines, or horse racing are only a few of the activities in which compulsive gamblers engage.

Shopping Addiction, Oooh, la-la! “I must get it.”

After all, it’s the latest on the market.

Most times, women are labeled as the ones who get caught up in this type of addiction.

Ladies, you are not alone anymore; men are giving you a run for your money where spending is concerned.

They have to get it before anyone else does or for no apparent reasons.

If you compulsively shop or spend by any means necessary to fulfill your desire, it’s now time to admit you have a shopping and spending disorder.

Food addiction – addicted to junk food in the same way drug addicts are addicted to drugs, compulsive overeating, and having an “unhealthy” relationship with food.

Sexual addiction, also known as sex addiction, is a state characterized by compulsive participation or engagement in sexual activity, particularly sexual intercourse, despite harmful consequences.

Deeper Look at Substance Addictions

Substance Addiction
Substance addiction is a form of addiction numbing trauma.

Alcoholism is any drinking of alcohol that results in problems.

Drug Abuse is the recurrent use of illegal drugs or the misuse of prescription or over-the-counter medications with negative consequences.

Smoking is breathing in the smoke from a substance that is burned to be tasted and absorbed into the bloodstream.

Abuse and addiction go hand in hand, and because of this, families and homes are being destroyed.

Over and over there have been reports about a drunken father coming home to beat his wife and children, most times this result in divorce.

Families are not the only ones that suffer, workplace, friends, all other external and internal parties involved are affected.

One of the most important yet most overlooked parties in the abusive situation is the abuser.

Most times, the abuser was abused and hid their abuse; the only way to conceal their fragility is by behaving as if they are fearless.
