About Kelsey

Kelsey Macfarlane is a marriage and family therapist who loves to learn about people! Her goal is to learn all about you and your story when you come into the therapy space.

She is passionate about therapy and helping others find peace and understanding in life.

Connection

Kelsey’s number one value is connection. As your therapist, she wants to connect with you. She wants to help you connect in healthy ways to the people you care about. 

She is excellent at reflective listening, helping clients discover their values, and exploring emotions. Kelsey is patient and believes that change is a process that shouldn’t be rushed. 

Taking a postmodern approach to therapy, Kelsey believes that clients are experts about their own lives. Instead of directing, she helps people discover their strengths and helps them pursue what they believe will be the best choices for themselves. 

She understands the importance of relationships, and how our connections with those around us have a critical influence on our wellbeing.

Kelsey has been working on her own ups and downs from life and is very familiar with what the other side of being in therapy is like. 

It can be nerve-wracking to call and set up an appointment to meet with a stranger who will hopefully understand you. That can be a difficult process that she will understand!

She will work with you to expand your comfort zone and be by your side as you both explore together. In the therapy room, you are both collaborative travelers. 

She is comfortable sitting with you when things get hard. We grow and heal when we feel safe, validated, and comfortable enough to challenge ourselves. 

Lover of rainbows and anything colorful! She is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist along with any community members that are needing some extra support at this time. 

She will work to make sure you have a safe place to process and feel heard. She can’t wait to meet you!

Laughter

Humor is one of the most healing avenues and studies have shown that laughter truly is the best medicine!

Kelsey will strive to find the right times to bring humor and laughter into your sessions. Being able to joke around and laugh is an important part of being human. Laughter can help lessen those negative feelings we all go through, and Kelsey will do her best to experience that process with you.

Kelsey is incredible with children; she’s never met a child that didn’t love her. Sometimes she makes them laugh so hard they pee their pants. She’s great at setting boundaries while also helping children develop the emotional skills they need while resolving their feelings in a healthy way. Children and laughter go hand in hand!

A little more about Kelsey...

Kelsey is an excellent calligrapher and watercolorist. She loves making crafts and has made many homemade cards and presents for special occasions. She loves giraffes, bunnies, and fish! She has recently returned to a long-time passion: playing the piano.

She is a night person and loves to stay up late talking about the nature of truth, reality, the possibility of knowledge, and the history of psychology with her awesome husband.
