How do you know how much help your child needs?

Do they need weekly therapy?

Residential or Wilderness Therapy?

What are your options?

See if any of the following apply:

  • You are looking into Residential, Long-Term, or Wilderness therapy.
  • Your child has had Suicidal ideation and/or suicidal attempt(s).
  • You have previously tried therapy or multiple therapists without long-term success.
  • Your child has Overdosed and/or has been hospitalized due to substances.
  • Your child has an addiction that is more than just occasional experimentation.
  • Your teen/young adult is Compulsive lying.
  • Your child is defiant:
    • Arguing constantly
    • Withdrawing
    • Refusing to participate in normal life activities or the family system.
  • Your child has either been sexually abused/raped or has sexually abused others.
  • Your child is failing or defiant in school. (Summer school, suspension, failing grades, expulsion).
  • Your child is experiencing severe issues of anxiety and/or depression.
  • Your young adult does not want to leave home.
    • Failure to Launch: Your child (Over 20 years old) needs to become independent and refuses to make healthy life decisions that lead to leaving home. Or you are struggling to see how they can survive on their own.
  • Your child struggles with Extreme technology addictions to the point where it interferes with education, school, social functioning, etc…
  • Your child has or continues to have Self-harm behaviors like cutting.
  • Your child struggles with Eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia.
  • Your child is Victim of bullying or severe social dysfunctions leading to withdrawn and avoidant behaviors.
  • Your child has had other series of events or behaviors deemed as a CRISIS.

If you answered YES to 1 or more of these, your child likely needs more than weekly or monthly therapy. What are your options?

You have been trained to consider Residential Treatment or Wilderness Therapy as the next step; with a cost averaging $10,000 – $20,000 every 30 days.

Some of the fears you may be experiencing in getting help for your child:

  1. Sending your child away from home.
  2. The financial burden associated.
  3. Is this what they really need?
  4. Will it work and how do you know?

Introducing The YES Program (Intensive Outpatient Therapy)

The YES Program is about helping you, your child and the entire system … in their current environment. This might include other family members, religious leaders, academic advisors, other counselors, and any individuals of influence in your child’s life.

This treatment is known as Intensive Outpatient – Multisystemic Therapy (MST) or easier Intensive Outpatient Program. (IOP)

It is MULTI SYSTEM…everyone in the system. Programs that fail often do so due to the fact: They don’t involve the system! Whenever possible, youth should be treated IN THEIR OWN SYSTEM.

Some parents say,

“We have tried over and over and it hasn’t worked” or “Our kid is way too far gone, so no way they can stay here.”

10% of you may be right. 90% likely qualify for The YES Program.

The YES Program WORKS!

Kids who get treatment away from home may see changes but the majority return to old behaviors within a year.

Kids who go away to residential programs come home and often fail.*; to the tune of over 50% returning to Residential Treatment after 2 years.*

Alternative to Residential Treatment

It’s just simply smart to help your child at home within the system, instead of removing them to the unknown.

The goal of The YES Program is to keep your child in their natural environment and create the change there, involving the entire system. (SEE THE RESEARCH!)

A team of licensed therapists and trained mentor(s) engages with the system on a daily basis. You can expect approximately 2-6 hours a week of treatment depending on the need.

There are ups and downs in this process, but that’s’ the point; to learn how to build and improve in the natural environment. If your child is sent away for treatment, they will need intensive adjustment therapy upon return. In fact, The YES Program is often used upon completion of Residential Treatment by families/individuals trying to adjust.

Accountability and Communication

Your child learns to be accountable and communicate within your system. Parents and family members engage and learn to support and lift each other. Other leaders and individuals of influence are involved as needed.

You may say

“Yah, this all sounds nice but my kid is so defiant, there is no way they will agree to a program like this.”

Perhaps …

but after the INITIAL ASSESSMENT, over 80% of qualified clients agree and commit to The YES Program. Some of these kids were as defiant as can be imagined.

We urge you to come in for an assessment and see our process of connecting with your child. At YES, we are doing treatment the right way, right now. No sugar coating the issues or treatment to try to win you over. We commit to help you determine what the best fit for your child is; even if it’s not with YES.

What is Your Core Philosophy in The YES Program?

Alternative to Residential Treatment

Your child is not a lost cause and may not need residential treatment.

  • Our Motto is: No Shame – No Judgment – Just Healing!
  • Every individual is worthy of love and belonging. (Be a BUILDER)
  • Compassion, Empathy and Connection Create Healing.
  • Long-term success comes by working with the entire system, not just 1 person.
  • Accountability and Ownership are vital to long-term success.
  • While a child or loved one may get lost, we are inherently good. No individual is “too far gone.”

What does The YES Program Accomplish? Goals of Treatment:

  • Fully identify the core issue(s) and develop a realistic treatment plan.
  • Teach accountability and connection within the family system.
  • Repair damaged relationships.
  • De-escalate shame and promote love of self through healthy accountability and ownership of the healing process.
  • Acknowledgement and acceptance of issues.
  • Surrender and Humility.
  • Awareness and Mindfulness Training.
  • Educational, Occupational, Independent Living mentoring and hands on training.
(i.e. – Getting caught up in High School, College Planning, Study Habits, Scholarships, Resumes, Job Hunting, Maintaining a Job, Budgeting and Fiscal Responsibility, Preparing to Leave Home, Housing, etc…)
  • De-escalation of unhealthy friend groups.
  • Build confidence to make healthy social decisions.
  • Reduce problem behaviors by involving key family members in the treatment process.
  • Assist youth and family/caregivers in identifying and managing triggers, cues and symptoms for problem behaviors.
  • Get everyone on the same page “language of treatment.”
  • Improve the family’s ability to parent a child with behavioral or emotional problems. We work with you as parents as much as you desire/need.
  • Build family connection with family therapy from a positive relationship building approach.
  • Empower Individuals and families – YES stands for “Your Empowering Solutions”.
Our goal is to empower individuals and families to live connected and successful lives.
  • Use YES Language moving away from “NO” statements and learning to reframe in a positive proactive way.
We help train the brain to make long-term positive changes, not just putting band-aids on problems.
  • Save money
Significantly reduced costs of care in the short and long-term when compared to Residential and/or Wilderness Programs. 1/5 the cost of Average Residential and Wilderness.

How Long is The YES Program?

Alternative to Residential Treatment

You can be happy realizing that we are here to help you and your child based on their needs.

It varies.

The length of treatment is based on need, once we do an assessment. The average client is in the program for 4-6 months and, with more intensive treatment the first 1-2 months to stabilize. We continue to provide care on a month/month basis, as needed, following completion of The YES Program.

Wilderness or Residential Treatment

We are not suggesting that Wilderness or Residential Treatment should be taken off the list of options. Sometimes, a 1-2 month stint in Wilderness or Short-Term Residential is absolutely vital for the safety of your child.

Often, the family and your child can benefit from a time of reset; especially when an individual continues to:

  • run
  • refuses treatment
  • life is in danger
  • cannot stay safe during The YES Program.

The YES Program will work with and prepare the family if your child is in short-term Residential or Wilderness Treatment. Then we continue working with your child upon their return.

YES works with you.

Research shows that the success MST like The YES Program is just as and can be more effective than Residential Treatment.

“In the 28 years I have been entrusted with caring for other people’s children, some of whom come from dire circumstances; I have learned firsthand there is no substitute for a child’s birth family. I used to think we could do a better job of raising these children. We know better now. The best way to help a child is to help his or her family. …” – Patrick Lawler
