Chantry Carter
LCSW
Chantry believes that identity development and self-exploration are lifelong processes—ones that invite curiosity, courage, and compassion. He understands that our sense of self is shaped by personal experiences, relationships, culture, spirituality, and the many roles we occupy throughout our lives. At times, these influences can leave us feeling disconnected from who we truly are. Chantry believes it is never too late to rediscover yourself, redefine your identity, and learn to genuinely appreciate the person you see in the mirror.
He views therapy as a collaborative space for reflection and growth, where clients can safely explore their values, beliefs, strengths, and lived experiences. Through intentional self-exploration, individuals can begin to integrate the different parts of themselves—clarifying what feels authentic, releasing what no longer serves them, and building a stronger, more cohesive sense of identity. Chantry believes that while the journey of self-discovery is deeply personal, it does not have to be navigated alone. Therapy can provide guidance, support, and insight as clients move toward greater self-understanding and self-acceptance.
Chantry has experience working across a broad range of clinical concerns, including acute mental health conditions such as PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, as well as anxiety, depression, substance use, LGBTQIA+ support, and faith transitions or spiritual crises. He is especially passionate about supporting clients who are navigating questions of identity—whether related to gender, sexuality, spirituality, culture, or life transitions. He works to help clients build shame resilience, increase self-compassion, and develop a healthier and more authentic relationship with themselves and their spirituality.
His therapeutic approach integrates solution-focused and strength-based interventions, grounded in the belief that each individual already possesses meaningful strengths and capacities for growth. By highlighting resilience and fostering insight, Chantry helps clients feel more confident in who they are and more empowered to create the lives they want to live.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Chantry earned both his Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Utah Valley University. Having lived in Utah most of his life, he brings a thoughtful understanding of the cultural and community contexts that may shape his clients’ experiences. Outside of his professional work, Chantry enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, reading, playing board games, participating in Dungeons & Dragons with friends, and attending the theater.
Above all, Chantry believes that every client’s story deserves to be heard, respected, and validated. While our past experiences influence our understanding of ourselves, they do not have to dictate our future. Through meaningful self-exploration and intentional therapeutic work, clients can heal from the past, strengthen their sense of identity, and move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose as they write the next chapters of their lives.
Lets face it, who likes to talk about their crap with other people?
If you’re like most clients, you’re used to being judged despite hearing so many people talk about non judgment and when you do open up, it seems like the more you share, the less likely you are to get compassion.
We’ve worked our butts off to create a clinic where the unfiltered, real you, can show up and heal, so dammit give therapy a chance!
We love the unfiltered real you, let’s heal together. – Utah Family Therapy Team
