Professional Experience

Jeff Burnett, Marriage And Family TherapistJeffrey Burnett has professional experience working with individuals facing some of life’s most difficult struggles – addiction, trauma, and severe mental health challenges such as schizophrenia.

His experience working with these populations has deepened his capacity for empathy and given him a profound respect for human resilience.

He doesn’t flinch at the hard stuff.

Instead, he meets people where they are, with patience and without judgment.

Therapeutic Approach

Jeff’s approach is grounded in the belief that people are not problems to be fixed – they are stories still unfolding.

He’s passionate about helping clients break out of cycles of shame, emotional withdrawal, and stuckness.

Whether you’re navigating grief, identity, relationships, or mental health challenges, Jeff offers a steady hand and a listening ear.

His goal isn’t just to help you cope – it’s to help you move toward a life that feels meaningful and authentic.

Personal Interests

Outside the therapy office, Jeff finds joy and grounding in simple things: hiking the Utah mountains, playing soccer, and spending time with family.

A lifelong Manchester United fan, Jeff knows the value of loyalty, long-term commitment, and cheering people on, even when they are not at their best.

He also loves to spend time with his wife, Ashley.

Their current project involves personal training their twelve-year-old pug, Jack, through his weight loss journey.

A Personal Note from Jeff Burnett

Jeff Burnett Therapist
Jeff loves his dog and the outdoors.

I didn’t come into this field because I have all the answers – I came into it because I know what it’s like to carry things quietly.

When my brother died of a heroin overdose as a teenager, everything changed.

It was a loss that sent shockwaves through my family and left me with a thousand unanswered questions.

I didn’t understand addiction at the time – I just knew I had lost someone I loved.

What made it harder was the silence that followed.

People didn’t talk about it openly.

There was a quiet shame that hung in the air, and I could feel the weight of judgment from others who didn’t see the full story of who my brother was.

That experience planted something deep in me – a desire to understand, to speak openly about the hard things, and to be the kind of person who doesn’t turn away from people in pain.

Jeff And Ashley Burnett

That loss became a turning point.

It forced me to confront my own grief – and over time, it shaped a deep desire in me to help others who are going through pain.

I know what it’s like to shut down emotionally.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck.

And I also know what it’s like to start opening up, even when it’s scary.

My goal in therapy isn’t to fix you.

My goal is to be someone who truly sees you and walks with you as you figure out what healing looks like for you.

I know that showing up for therapy can feel vulnerable and uncomfortable.

That’s okay.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, honesty, and a deep respect for your story – I’d be honored to work with you.

UTAH FAMILY THERAPY'S UNFILTERED MISSION STATEMENT

Lets face it, who likes to talk about their crap with other people?

If you’re like most clients, you’re used to being judged despite hearing so many people talk about non judgment and when you do open up, it seems like the more you share, the less likely you are to get compassion.

We’ve worked our butts off to create a clinic where the unfiltered, real you, can show up and heal, so dammit give therapy a chance

We love the unfiltered real you, let’s heal together. – Utah Family Therapy Team
