Betrayal – All I need is a single reason.

It can be challenging to be the spouse of someone dealing with a compulsion. At times, it can feel like all hope is lost and that there is nothing you can do to repair the damage that has been done by the betrayal of your spouse.

Many times, during the recovery process, all you are wanting is one reason: just a single reason to stay and stand by the side of your spouse or loved one.

There will be times when you look back with fondness, of the life that once was, before the compulsion.

These memories can be an excellent reason to stay and support your spouse or loved one, as well as comfort yourself. Just because a compulsion has entered into the relationship, does not necessarily mean that your spouse or loved one has turned into a completely different person.

Challenging

While it may be challenging, it is during this time that they need you more than ever. However, this is also the time that you want to be alone because of your own hurting. If you do not leave them alone, you both may experience tremendous healing together.

Despite the betrayal, by showing compassion, love, and understanding your spouse has the potential to overcome their compulsive behaviors and become an even higher version of themselves through the healing process.

Likewise, you can become a more fabulous version of yourself. This process is a time for healing and growth, both individually and as a couple. While it may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, by showing your support and compassion, you can become that light for your spouse.
