Joshua Doxey
MFTI
Joshua Doxey believes that one of the greatest joys in life is witnessing the real you shine through.
He recognizes that everyone has unique interests and attributes, and he loves seeing them embrace and enjoy the qualities that define them.
To him, there is beauty in the differences and unique qualities that people possess.
However, he also understood that many individuals often felt shame about certain aspects of themselves.
Joshua Doxey believes that everyone harbors an inner voice that is often very critical of themselves.
This inner critic, he believes, is intended to motivate or protect, yet it frequently leads to feelings of shame, guilt, or hurt.
His therapeutic approach focused on inviting gentleness and compassion into the areas of life where individuals felt wounded.
He emphasized the importance of slowing down and digging deeper to understand the sources of pain and what might be needed in the moment to provide comfort.
Joshua recognizes the power of the mind and found that taking a moment to breathe and articulate thoughts and feelings helped individuals become more attuned to their needs, enabling them to move forward effectively.
Life could be lived in billions of ways, and he found beauty in the fact that there was no singular path to follow.
While Joshua acknowledged that limitations might arise from various circumstances, he is convinced that there is always an opportunity to move closer to the life you desire.
Helping you recognize your unique life story, filled with amazing storylines, characters, and plot twists.
Regardless of where you have been in the past, Joshua aims to assist you in crafting the narrative you wish to live.
He understands that stories often contain unexpected elements beyond your control, yet he is dedicated to helping you find ownership and power in your narratives.
Joshua Doxey envisions therapy as a space where you can feel safe to share whatever you feel is necessary.
He provides a warm and open-minded approach.
Over the years, he’s connected with people from various walks of life, including many individuals who identified with the LGBTQ+ community and their family members.
Joshua is mindful of his clients’ diverse backgrounds and is sensitive to incorporating their values into therapy.
He understands that many people hesitate to share their most pressing thoughts due to a fear of judgment from others.
Therefore, his goal is to foster an environment where clients feel safe and secure enough to express their concerns without fear of judgment.
Are you someone who feels icky when you think of setting goals?
If you are, you’re not alone.
Joshua Doxey is like you. In his own words,
“Setting goals has actually been really difficult for me.
However, I’ve learned that part of my goal-setting has been focused on making drastic and unrealistic changes.
If I’m not careful, my mind can start to spiral and I start getting overly anxious of how I can get from point A to point B.”
Joshua discovered that one of the most effective strategies for him was to take the smallest possible steps.
He firmly believes that small efforts can lead to significant changes.
In therapy, he encourages you to take small steps and process your feelings about those actions.
He recognizes that challenges may arise along the way.
Still, with a gentle and compassionate approach, he will do what he can to help you build the confidence needed to take desired steps.
One of Joshua Doxey’s most critical values in life is having fun.
He understands that your perception of “fun” maybe different and recognizes the complexities of life.
Acknowledging that life could be short, he believes that you deserve moments of enjoyment amidst chaos.
He’s aware that life presents difficult times, and focusing on self-care during these periods is essential.
He believes engaging in small, fun activities could help shake things up.
For Joshua, having fun means trying a variety of activities:
He enjoys painting and often took his easel to beautiful locations to create art.
At other times, he prefers to spend time with friends and family, engaging in activities like escape rooms, board games, and puzzles that keep his mind active and alert.
He had also come to appreciate the simple pleasure of a beautiful walk, often seeking to discover something new during even the most mundane strolls.
Joshua admits his love for travel,
“When I have the time and save enough money, I like to reward myself with travel or a staycation, cherishing the experiences that brought me joy.”
Joshua wants you to know that your life and journey are important to him.
He wants you to understand your story fully and know there’s a safe environment so you will feel comfortable to share your joys, pains, and sorrows.
His goal is to assist you in creating the life you desire, incorporating the values that matter most to you.

Lets face it, who likes to talk about their crap with other people?
If you’re like most clients, you’re used to being judged despite hearing so many people talk about non judgment and when you do open up, it seems like the more you share, the less likely you are to get compassion.
We’ve worked our butts off to create a clinic where the unfiltered, real you, can show up and heal, so dammit give therapy a chance!
We love the unfiltered real you, let’s heal together. – Utah Family Therapy Team
