Chandler Coomes
MFTI
Chandler grew up in a big, complicated family. His parents divorced, and the divorce was messy. He has many siblings and step-siblings. His family loved him and gave support when he asked for it. But they didn’t talk much about hard things. The message he often heard was, “You’ll figure it out.” His dad was home, but he wasn’t always emotionally there. Both his dad and stepmom were police officers. They worked long days, then came home too worn out to connect.
Chandler learned to keep things quiet. By age 14 or 15, he knew he needed help. He was dealing with depression, self-doubt, and a feeling that he wasn’t loved or good enough. Some of that shame was tied to pornography. He felt like he couldn’t tell anyone.
His brothers were his anchor. Their support helped him stay grounded, and they are still part of his life today.
Then, when Chandler was 18, he lost his younger brother in a sudden car accident. The loss brought deep grief and loneliness and made the depression heavier.
Chandler chose to go to therapy, and it changed things for him. It helped him see how his family and his relationships had shaped him. He realized that the silence, the shame, and the pain were not signs that something was wrong with him. He decided to become a therapist so others wouldn’t have to carry those things alone.
Chandler understands what it’s like to:
He is also growing his work with couples and families. He has a special interest in helping law enforcement officers learn healthy ways to handle job stress, so it doesn’t spill into the people they love.
Chandler won’t judge you or rush you. He knows how hard the first step is, because he took it himself. His sessions are a safe place to say what’s true and be met with kindness.
He believes healing starts with understanding your story and the relationships that shaped you. Then he walks with you toward real, lasting change, one clear step at a time.
“You don’t have to figure it out alone.”
When Chandler is not doing therapy he enjoys:
Lets face it, who likes to talk about their crap with other people?
If you’re like most clients, you’re used to being judged despite hearing so many people talk about non judgment and when you do open up, it seems like the more you share, the less likely you are to get compassion.
We’ve worked our butts off to create a clinic where the unfiltered, real you, can show up and heal, so dammit give therapy a chance!
We love the unfiltered real you, let’s heal together. – Utah Family Therapy Team
